$7,630.75!

The amount left to meet our $10,000 matching grant!
 I am amazed!
I have to admit I was thankful to have been given the matching grant; but honestly I had very little hope of being able to raise enough funds to meet it which would leave us in the same spot we had been in to begin with
(needing a LOT!)

I check our FSP
Family Sponsorship Page
on Reece's Rainbow on a regular basis.
I am always hopeful, but never really expect to see any change in the amount.

I have been pleasantly surprised a couple of times and today was one of them!
A gloomy cold Saturday afternoon with nothing to do so I typed in our name on the Reece's Rainbow site.
To my surprise our account had grown and I was once again in tears.
Knowing that we are not alone in this is huge!
Knowing there are others who care about us and "our" kids means more than only another hopeful adoptive parent can imagine!
We are sooo grateful and cannot wait to share
our children with you!
We are hoping and praying for an appointment in Ukr*ine next month!
That means we have to raise the funds to get this match met in the next couple of weeks!

Thank you again to all who have donated in the past and Thanks in advance to anyone willing to pray, send good vibes and donate in the future!
We are so grateful!

$10,000 Matching Grant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$10,000 IS A  LOT OF MONEY!

We have been given the opportunity to receive $10,000 in the form of a matching grant!
We are so excited and grateful!
As soon as we can meet this matching grant, by earning/receiving
$10,000 in donations to our Reece's Rainbow FSP
the donor will deposit another $10,000!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand
we will be fully funded!
That is amazing!
I have, of course been worried sick about how we were going to come up with $40,000.
But I just knew that it would happen somehow.
"The final hour" seems to be a theme for funding for many adoptive families.

Let's get this party started!

Thank you from ALL of us!

While We Wait

While we wait to travel for our newest family members to come home we are having fun enjoying spring!

A New Donation!

Someone donated to our FSP! An FSP (for those not familiar) is a fundraising account; a Family Sponsorship Page on Reece's Rainbow where our friends and family can donate to our adoption AND be able to claim the donation on their taxes:) Pretty awesome to be able to help a family grow and get a little tax benefit too!

Adoption is expensive! Totally worth it but expensive. We have been working really hard to make this happen so when we see a leap, no matter how much in our FSP their is cause to celebrate. Not only is someone helping to lighten our load, but they are also becoming part of our story and more importantly part of our children's story! You will never know how much your donation means to us. Knowing that someone else gave up a McDonald's meal or a Starbuck's or two for US is an amazing feeling:)

So whoever you are THANK YOU!!! Every donation encourages us to keep going when it feels like it is impossible. Knowing we are not in this alone and that we have a whole army out there rooting for us is what makes us get up each day and fill out the next form or plan the next fundraiser, go through the house one more time to see if there is anything worth selling that could put us a little bit closer to our goal. Knowing YOU are out there praying, giving, sending good vibes, etc is what keeps us focused on our ultimate goal; getting our babies, or kiddos, or in our case FOUR DESERVING TEENAGERS HOME where they belong instead of waiting for the day they age out of wherever they have been calling home and are sent off to an even worse (if you can try to imagine) fate than they have already known.

So on behalf of our family here on this side of the world but especially for our family waiting on the other side of the world THANK YOU for every dollar and every prayer said on our behalf!

Fundraiser Blues and more Prom Pictures!

We had some awesome friends offer to help us do a fundraiser, either a spaghetti feed or Chicken Q on May 15.  We were very excited and had planned silent auctions and raffle tickets, a DJ, kids games etc.  Well things haven't gone so well since.  We have gone to tons of businesses asking for donations and sharing the story of our kids and a few places have been awesome and we so appreciate it but there just hasn't been enough positive response to be able to continue.  If things change and some donations come in we may be able to schedule for a later date but for right now it doesn't make sense to continue.  We are bummed; we need the funds; it will happen!

I am sending our dossier documents (all except for our USCIS approval which we are still waiting for) to another family today to carry over for us!  I have faith that we are meant to be on this path and that these kids are meant to be in our family!  The money will be there just when we need it ( a little self pep talk:).)  But just in case you would like to help us along here is our donation link to our Family Sponsorship Page on Reece's Rainbow.  You can also paypal the money directly to me at szamlh@yahoo.com and use the send money to family and friends option and they won't take out any paypal fees!

Finally some warm weather and fishing!

We finally have spring weather so we had our first cook out at the park with fishing to follow of course!  Clara enjoyed the worms and minnows the most and Simon was sure that the minnows were babies and everyone was trying to get them back to the Mama and Daddy fish!  Lol

Special Prom!

I am all about inclusion in school.  My kids with special needs deserve everything every other kid deserves.  I don't feel like our schools, especially in the older grades do a very good job of including our special needs kids.  Maybe it isn't the school at all but the reality that the gap between their abilities and that of their typical peers is getting bigger and that is a hard fact to swallow when we have worked so hard to prove that they are more alike than different.  I'm still not sure, but last weekend we attended Prom!  Not your typical Prom, but a Special Needs Prom put on especially for our kids!  Most of the volunteers attended as "dates" for their "special" partners and made sure they had the time of their lives.  And most of these volunteers were high school students or young adults themselves who were honored to be there.

So while inclusion is still a priority in my book; I also believe there is a place for our special kids to have their own activities as well.  Events where they don't have to work so hard to fit in and where they can just be themselves and nobody is going to laugh at how they do something.  In a perfect world we wouldn't have to worry about them being laughed at for anything but the world we live in is anything but perfect unfortunately.

So for now I am still glowing with the after thoughts of Prom and enjoying the memories of my kiddos all dressed up and feeling so special!
